INSPO FOR FUN TIMES

Discover Amazing Bush walks

Shellharbour offers the perfect weather for grabbing your walking shoes and exploring our natural wonderland.

From a short leisurely stroll to an adventurous trek. From the coast to the mountains. There’s lots of trails to inspire even the most couch-potato inclined!

Go Chasing Waterfalls

How many times have you driven Macquarie Pass and thought “One day we should go for a bushwalk here”? It really should be on your to-do list!

The Cascades Rainforest Walk is 2km return and starts off at the picnic area at the foot of Macquarie Pass. 1km in you will come to the ‘Cascades’ where the water falls from a height of 20 metres. There’s nothing quite like the sound of tumbling water and feeling like you’re a world away.

Scones in the Forest

Did someone say scones and jam? Yes please!

Halfway up Macquarie Pass from Clover Hill Road, Paul from Nature Engagement Tours provides a guided tour with morning tea and lunch included.

Crossing 3 creeks through sub-tropical rainforest you’ll see Balance Rock sitting 3 stories high, a beautiful waterfall, a hidden mountain farm clearing and you’ll hear the sounds of birds that you just don’t get in your own backyard. Immerse yourself in nature with this family friendly walk.

Coastal Trails

A bit closer to the water’s edge there are a variety of walks just waiting to be explored and great for some light exercise. Try the coastal walk at Killalea Reserve that will take you on a journey of beach, bush and wetlands, or the Bass Point Reserve Coastal Walk and Indigenous Cultural Walks – both great options. Or there is always the lake foreshore at Reddall Reserve where you could grab some fish and chips at Lake Illawarra Kiosk, and then wind along the lake towards Oak Flats. There’s also the Lake Illawarra Art Trail to discover that will have you learning more about Shellharbour’s amazing history, Aboriginal heritage, flora and fauna.

what i love about shellharbour

Being a photographer, I love the diversity of the Shellharbour region. There's pristine beaches and the lake, to rolling hills, rainforest and, of course the escarpment - all within a 20-minute drive. Plus with the airport and soon to be marina - Shellharbour has it all!

We love living in Tullimbar Village, it has a fantastic sense of community! We enjoy spending time in the Village eating at cafes and our dog Peggy loves the beach. Peggy's Bistro emulates everything we love about Shellharbour and feel lucky to be part of the wonderful community our customers create.
